The mission of Archiving West Virginia is to create an online directory of archival repositories around the state, host blog posts highlighting and promoting individual archival collections, and create a calendar of events pertaining to archival collections and West Virginia Archives Month.

The month of October, since 2006, is designated as American Archives Month. Archiving West Virginia provides an online space for archives throughout West Virginia to connect with people to celebrate American Archives Month and share the wealth of historical resources — archives in historical societies, museums, universities, churches, governments, businesses — cared for by archivists around the state. West Virginia Archives Month will be a chance for people learn more about the rich history of our state and the work archivists do to preserve that history.

Our statewide celebration of American Archives Month, West Virginia Archives Month, provides an opportunity for people learn more about the rich history of our state and the work archivists do to preserve that history.
